Andromeda is our nearest major galaxy at over 2 million light-years away. Andromeda consists of 200 billion stars. The older stars at the center tend to have a golden hue, while younger stars around the edge are blue. Andromeda has two companion galaxies in orbit around it, and someday they will merge into Andromeda.
