| The Hubble Deep Field is the deepest view of the Universe ever obtained. This image was recorded by the Hubble Space Telescope over a period of ten consecutive days in December, 1995. The very faintest galaxies visible in the image are some four billion times fainter than the faintest objects that can be seen by the naked eye. The most distant galaxies detected in the Hubble Deep Field, which are visible in the image as small red dots, are some 15 billion light years away, at the very edge of the observable Universe. Light from these very distant galaxies was emitted some 15 billion years ago, soon after the Big Bang. |
