This widefield image taken with a camera lens attached to a CCD camera highlights this spectacular region of the winter sky. Numerous celestial gems are visible in the image including the Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33), the reflection nebulae NGC 2023 and IC 432 and the spectacular Flame Nebula NGC 2024. The entire region is imbedded within a background of emission and dark nebulosity (IC 434). The bright star Zeta Orionis is the easternmost of the three stars making up the belt of Orion.
