The Horsehead Nebula is a distinctive red emission nebula that is silhouetted by a dusty cloud of gas that resembles the head of a horse in projection. The nebula is powered by the star Sigma Orionis, which is the second brightest star in the image and is about 1500 light years from the sun. The brightest star in the image is Zeta Orionis, which is easily visible to the naked eye as the easternmost star in the line of three which form Orion's belt. This 32" by 28" poster is printed in brilliant color on premium stock and is packaged rolled into a sturdy cardboard tube for shipping.
