In its frst glimpse of the heavens following its successful
1999 servicing mission, NASA's Hubble Space Telescope captured
a majestic view of a planetary nebula, the glowing remains of
a dying star. This stellar relic, first spied by William Herschel
in 1787, is nicknamed the "Eskimo nebula" because when
viewed through ground-based telescopes it resembles a face surrounded
by a fur parka. In this Hubble Space Telescope image, the "parka"
is actually a disk of material surrounded by a ring of comet-shaped
objects with their tails streaming away from the central dying
star, while the "Eskimo's face" is actually a bubble
of material blown into space by an intense wind emitted by the
central star. This 28" by 32" poster is printed in
brilliant color on premium stock and is packaged rolled into
a sturdy cardboard tube for shipping.
