Pseudoscorpion (molting) with chelate pedipalps (Larca sp.). Pseudoscorpions, or false scorpions, are a group of arachnids that look like tiny scorpions but lack the scorpion's long tail and stinger. They occur worldwide and inhabit leaf litter, soil, rocky crevasses and logs. The pedipalps, are pincer-like appendages, that have poison glands opening at the tips. On various parts of the body are numerous sensory hairs, which can sense small air currents.
