A crazy ant head (Paratrechina longicornis). Crazy ants occur in large numbers in homes and outdoors. They often forage long distances away from their nests. The name "crazy ant" arises from its characteristic erratic and rapid movement along loosely woven trails unlike the linear trails of many other ants. They feed on honeydew produced by aphids and other plant feeders, seeds, fruit, insects, and almost any household food product.
