Velcro-like hooks on the surface of a burdock seed pod (Arctium sp.) The hooks on a seed or seed pod increases the likelihood that dispersal is wide spread and genetic variability is accomplished. Hooks can attach securely to animal fur or other substances to be carried great distances.
