Galaxy NGC 6782 is a barred spiral galaxy located some 183 million light years away toward the constellation Pavo. The image shows a circular ring that surrounds the nucleus of the galaxy, which contains a small central bulge and a bar of stars, dust, and gas. The ring is prominent in ultraviolet light, which marks the presence of a concentration of young, hot stars. The galaxy is about 82,000 light years across.
