Stephan's Quintet (or Hickson Compact Group 92) is a compact group of galaxies located some 270 million light years away toward the constellation Pegasus. At least two of the galaxies of the cluster have collided, throwing stars, dust, and gas into intergalactic space. The collision has also triggered new star formation, resulting in more than 100 new star clusters and several new dwarf galaxies. The ages of the new star clusters and dwarf galaxies range from about two million through more than one billion years.
