| Mammoth Mountain is a mountain in the Sierra
Nevada mountain range of California. In this image, red represents
forests, dark blue represents bare surfaces, green represents
short vegetation (mainly bush), and purple represents newly fallen
snow. Crawley Lake appears as the dark structure at the left
center of the image, and the Mammoth Mountain ski area is just
beyond the upper right corner of the image. The image was obtained
by SIR-C/X-SAR on the Space Shuttle Endeavor on October 3, 1994
and shows an area about 24 mi (39 km) on a side, with North toward
the lower right. |
